Obviously it's gone be raining this weekend but it looks like the weather's clearing up on Saturday night/Sunday. Is yonah climbable after rain like this? Any info is appreciated. Cheers.
I know that thing keeps seeping for at least a day after a rain, I haven't been in years, but last time we went it started pouring, we stayed and climbed all the slabby stuff on the main face in the rain. By no means was it fun, but was definatly doable.
All depends on what you want to get on. All the bolted routes at the top of the approach cable tend to stay wet for a few days after a rain. Most of the routes past standard route are typically dry. The numbered routes are usually dry but are all trad unless you use the cable to set up a top rope. The lowers should be dry
I went and climbed there about a week or two ago. The day before I was planning to climb a storm came through and lasted for most of the day. The following day the lowers were completely dry by 10:00 am. The main face on the other hand ran with water the entire day.
I wouldn't drive 5 hours from the bustling metropolis of Valdosta to clip bolts.
Either way, we had killer weather, 80 degrees and no clouds in the sky. The cables were a bit wet but most everything on the main face was dry enough to climb, minus some of the water grooves.
