Katahdin in Late June

I'm considering heading to Katahdin and Chimney pond in late June for a few days. Ideally, it'd be great to do some climbing but might also just end hiking around. How are the bugs then? I live in the adirondacks, so I'm accustomed to the atrocities of bug season, just wondering if it might be worse/comparable.

That's kind of on the border of bug season up there so I'd prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

The bugs can be bad but a lot will depend on the temperature on the day. I was there last June and the first two days were warm and the bugs were terrible but then a storm came through and it cooled down for a few days. The bug situation improved immeasurably.

Good Luck! It's a beautiful place and well worth the bugs (mostly).
