No resoler will have "XS Edge 2"

Vibram only makes XS Edge available for resole at this time.

The compositions of xs edge, xs grip, xs edge 2 (& nearly all climbing shoe rubbers) are nearly identical. In general, softer rubber is stickier but wheres down faster much faster, especially in hot areas. Harder rubber is pretty sticky but lasts much longer, good for edging, etc.

I've always found it's the climber, not the rubber, that completes the route, solves the problem, or not.

Yes, it's the artist not the brush, but...

Most resolers in Europe have XS Edge 2, wonder why not here? Having climbed extensively in both flavors, I do have a preference for Edge 2. When you're climbing at the edge of your own ability, little things can make a difference.

^^^ I bet he got confused. Rock & Resole has had the Grip2 rubber since some time this spring (or was it last summer?) Sounded like Sportiva, not Vibram, does the rubber importing. I guess it helps Sportiva NA & R&R are literally only 1/2 mile apart.

Yerp, meant grip 2 indeed. Good to know, will call R&R as soon as I get the number...

I'm looking for Alf's Resoling Incorporated's phone number.

I emailed Vibram about the xsGrip2 rubber and they said they can't supply it directly to anyone but La Sportiva due to contractual agreements. So Rock 'n Resole must get it from Sportiva.

I have not had my shoes done by Pat Dennis before but i do have great things to say about flophouseresoles.com and owner operator Dave Berumen. I have been having him exclusively resole my shoes for over two years now. His work is the ultimate in edging performance. As good edging or better than any other shoe I've owned brand new out the box or otherwise. Check him out

A note about Berkeley resole:

On September 27th I delivered two pairs of climbing shoes and a hiking boot to Tom at Berkeley Resole. Tom explained to me that they would be mailed back to me in about 2 weeks. I paid $88 for the services.

About 3 weeks later I realized I didn't have my shoes yet so I called (510) 356-7601 and left a message. I did not receive a response so I called again. I left 6 message total over a period of 2 months. I did not receive a call back.

In November I emailed berkeleyresole@gmail.com asking for my shoes to be returned to me in whatever condition they were currently in and I requested that I be refunded. I received a response from Tom saying that my shoes were completed, he apologized for not getting my calls, and said he would refund me.

It is now December 27th, about a month after that email, and I have not received my shoes or a refund. I would like my shoes returned to me and to be refunded $88.

Update: Today I received one of the two shoes I gave Tom at Berkeley Resole to repair. I also received someone else's shoe in the mail. It has the initials MK on it. If anyone received a women's miura that is not yours I would love to trade.

What a nightmare! Thanks for letting me know to never do any business with them.

I hope you get your shoes back, give them an appropriate review on Yelp, call the Better Business Bureau and take them to small claims court, as needed.
