Mini, wearable haul bag for the second?

On harder free climbing routes I often find I switch from wearing the wall pack to hauling it with some 6mm tag line. So if the route has some 5.10 climbing and I am seconding, I'll just wear the pack. If then I hit a pitch of say 5.12, we will haul it hand over hand or with a micro traxion since it only takes a minute. Anyway, I am finding standard lightweight packs dont stand up to the abrasion. I recall some dude in Yosemite had a wearable mini haul bag that was made of the same stuff normal bags are made out of, just far far smaller. Something like 1000CI would probably be perfect, just enough to put water and food in. |

Metolius Mescalito. It is virtually unbreakable, does not block harness and chalk bag access, has almost no bells and whistles. An obvious drawback - expensive. |

if you're mostly wearing it and occasionally hauling the pack, the black diamond 50 caliber works fairly well. not as durable as a standard haul bag, but much more so than a standard pack. |

Same with the atom smasher, bigger than he's looking for. That Grivel looks like the right idea, if still a bit bigger than needed. I'd be interested in something like this too since I've managed to put holes in my bullet pack from hauling it. Maybe Runnout Customs will make you something? |

I have a Climb X mini haul bag that size with straps, top cinch, two pockets, lightweight....someone handed it to me at a retail show somewhere....brand new, I don't need it, $70 if anyone wants it, perfect for the purpose stated in this thread |

I have both the larger 65L Cilogear Hauly and the Fish Atom Smasher. My son has the smaller Hauly. I much more prefer the Cilogear over about anything. The Hauly will out carry (when hiking) the Fish all day long. It has 2 pockets as well whereas the Fish has none. A comparable sized Hauly is also lighter than any comparably sized Fish or Metolius haul pack. Plus if it starts raining, the Fish doesn't have a lid. I haven't been able to make a hole in the Hauly yet, and it's been hauled over a lot of rough rock. |

Check out Imlay Canyon Designs. Small company making gear for canyoneering. I love mine, one pack does it all for me. Carries all my gear to the rock, then compresses down to cary water, food and shoes to the top. Has a couple of haul loops if you need to haul behind a climber, which I have done on a long sling through tight squeezes. Durable materials that are made to be scuffed up, and I think they make several sizes. |
