Weekend rock strength forecast?

We're working on a comprehensive signage plan for all of Red Rock, including Kraft. We're in a planning phase with the BLM. Unfortunately, it will take a little time, but we're hopeful to have more to report within a few months. Signs will go up about not only climbing on wet sandstone, but other issues like climbing near cultural resources, waste disposal, and using designated trails. We hope to provide more information soon.

Heard a couple of guys talking about their Wednesday morning bouldering trip to Kraft last night. These guys are locals yet went out almost less than 12 hours after rain, boils my blood.

Why can't people just have some patience and not destroy our lovely park?

The sad problem with a popular area like Red Rock is that if 97% of people respect the "don't climb after rain or snow" rule than there's still enough people to break everything. What I really can't fathom is the locals who should know better. And if you're not local, guess what? There's great hiking in Red Rock and surrounding areas. A trip there should be with the assumption that you might end up not climbing if conditions don't permit it.

Went out and stood at the road into calico basin with a sign that said to not climb on damp rock. It was pretty nice to see so many concerned climbers asking about the conditions, to which I said its damp everywhere , but if you must climb check the base of the route for dampness. If it's damp, the rock is no good. I even got a thumbs up from someone in a Mercedes. This still confuses me . I had to leave at 1030, so unfortunately I didn't get any boulderers. People super stoked on the sign.

Anyone been at red rock recently? Sunny spots going to be dry enough tomorrow? Hoping to hit the gallery or even the pier of it's dry enough

Instagram was blowing up with boulderers' pics of slaying the gnar in RR yesterday afternoon. :(

Dude. You'd get to see a lot of cute pictures of my kid if you were on.

As a visiting climber, I'd be down for more official-looking signage as is discussed above and less the occupy-style, beardo looking approaches. Maybe that's just me.

It's ok Colonel, I have enough beard for the both of us :)

If dog crap, leashless dogs, and trash at hiking/climbing areas are any indicator of sign/rule adherence, I believe that more personal stewardship by climbers actively verbally/visually engaging other climbers is more in line with the style and ethos of climbing in general, or it should be. Stewardship at it's core.

I would really appreciate if someone posts if it rains at red rock today. I am really hoping to climb after work. Crossing my fingers lol

No afternoon rain? It looked like a low ceiling up there. Can someone update the report?

Literally on the way back into town from climbing Crimson. It held out all day until we began our descent at 5ish. The sprinkling was very intermittent, very very light, and it's making it's way into town now. We'll have to see about tomorrow yet.

Side note: bits of snow still on Rainbow Wall was neat to see.

Was climbing in Oak Creek canyon today on Eagle wall , it started sprinkling when we were rappling at about 4:30 and was on and off till we hiked out to the car at 7-8 pm and still sprinking as we were driving away .

I led the last two pitches (230' on the nose, not 300' by the way) of Gwendonnaland Boggie in the rain yesterday (very spotty, anything you want to get on is fine this week no worries)....lichen, moss, left over snow, wet rock, 100' of run out. Fun...I guess.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
