Beal Yuji

I have seen a few post about beal and have heard good things. I noticed the beal Yuji 10mm is on sale and was thinking about getting it as a second/back up rope for TR and single pitch sport routes. What's the take on these ropes? I don't see a lot of reviews on them so wanted to see what you MPers thought. I currently have a New England Equinox 10.2 it's alright for a first rope but heavy on sport. Will .2mm make much of a difference? I was looking at a 9.8 potentially but I felt the 10.0 would hold up a little better with the people I climb with and the places I climb. Also looking to keep it cost efficient. Thanks!

I got a 70m Yuji awhile back and it seems to be holding up well. I probably have a few hundred pitches on it. I was expecting it to have a softer hand but it turns out it falls right inbetween supple and stiff. Another rope that can be found cheap is the mammot 9.8 eternity classic, the mammot came out of the package maybe just a tad more supple than the beal but I can't speak on its durability yet because it's being shelved until I have to chop The beal and need a full 70m. Hope that helps.

I'll have to look into the mammut. Appreciate the feed back. Do you use it for TR sport trad?

Mostly trad and occasionally sport. The only time I've noticed the weight is on long approaches. It's a good all around size. Any fatter and they aren't as smooth in belay devices, get a whole lot thinner and they get pricey. I wouldn't sweat the difference between a 9.8 and a 10.
