I'm up for it after the 20th. Studying until then. I'll email you.

Was going to start a thread but found this one. Has anyone been out recently? Today's 45 degree temps got me psyched to try and get on some dry sport routes possibly next weekend.

If there is dry rock to be had then I would be willing to make the drive up there! But I won't get my hopes hope just yet

I spent yesterday projecting Flawless Victory, I think that mud season will be in full swing by next week, yesterday hit 50 up here, and everything started melting. Today it is back to being NH again, but we've felt it break. I'll probably rename the thread to reflect the season. This is basically a partner/ conditions thread for Rumney.

Anyone have a guess about how the Prudential will be this weekend? Specifically, I'm thinking about Horned Behavior. Anyone know how that one does when things start melting? Looks like it might be low 30's and partly sunny, which sounds like the tropics after the cold we've had in VT.

Any chance of a Frozen Basterds t-shirt sometime?

Horned Behavior Stays really dry except for the very top, right at the anchor.

I'm new to the area (Lebanon, NH) and looking for partners for Rumney and anywhere else. This is my first weekend in the NE (Alabama transplant) but I normally get out every weekend and some weekdays.

thanks,
Will

What's the latest on conditions? Can anyone report on which crags are clear enough to climb?

Yeah I am super psyched to hear. I am down in Chattanooga climbing outside and its making me want to go right outside when I get back!

I haven't been yet myself this year, but a couple of friends went last week and were able to climb at Armed and Dangerous and Waimea. OC and Bonsai are waterfalls, and Venus wall is still covered in ice. Trail is well packed to Waimea, but getting to other crags occasionally involved post-holing in knee deep snow.

This is all second-hand, so maybe someone else has better information. I also don't know if it snowed any significant amount yesterday. We got about 1-2 inches in Burlington. Any locals want to chime in?

Went and sport climbed yesterday at the meadows, many things were dry, including Flesh for Lulu. I also went bouldering, and sent Smoke and Mirrors among other things. A lot of stuff is dry, and fully climbable.
The season has begun, but really it started almost two weeks ago now.

How are the ground conditions? Wet and muddy?

Eli Buzzell · · noco · Joined Nov 2010 · Points: 5,507

Pretty much just frozen enough.
Mud season cometh.

Mid season does await, but nothing a good tarp doesn't fix! Nice work again Eli on your send of Smoke and Mirrors!! Crushed it, starting the year off right!

I'm up in Burlington, but I'm looking for partners at Rumney if we get some good dry days. I work from home and could take off midweek with a few days advance notice. Looking to climb anytime.

Up for climbing literally anything.

Thanks,
Will

How wet/muddy does it get up there? A couple of friends and I were planning a trip to rumney around April 6-10 but my family around holderness was warning me of the mud and seeping water every where.

The muddiest spot would be the parking lot. Generally, the bases of the cliffs are talus-covered and therefore not muddy at all. I've been thwarted by all manner of things at Rumney (ice, rain, weakness) but mud has never stopped me.

Right now, I'd say Rumney is slightly drier than you'd expect for this time of year. That said, the usually wet routes are wet and the usually dry routes are dry.

How are the boulders looking these days? Thinking of heading out there Sunday.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
