Phoenix / Tucson Area Bouldering while visiting

I will be in Arizona March 17-24 to visit family but would love to get some bouldering in while I am out there. I will be in the Tucson (Catalina) area the 17th-20th then Phoenix/Scottsdale for the rest of the trip. I have been doing a good bit of research here and tucsonbouldering.com but would love to hear the opinions of some locals before I plan things out.

What locations would you recommend for a good half or full day in both Tucson and Phoenix? I would prefer lower difficulty areas as I am fairly new to climbing and climb v5 indoors and v2-v3 out. The closer the better as I will have limited transportation at times.

Anywhere to rent crashpads? I have considered getting a smaller pad like a Evolv Iceman as it fits as a checked bag on flights but if rentals are accessible and not to expensive that would work as well.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated

Lucky you. The Queen Creek Bouldering Comp takes place on 3/21 and there will be a lot of people to hang and boulder with then finish up with a fun time.

Lucky me is right, this looks like a great time. Outdoor comps are nonexistent in my area so this sounds amazing. I should have a vehicle that day so I will have to check it out if not just register for the experience. Thanks for the info =)
