Bicep injuy? Deltoid injury? Rotator Cuff?

It all started the day after I weight lifted with free weights.

I woke up in the middle of the night, having an intense sharp pain over at my left arm middle deltoid muscle, the area just below my shoulder, around the upper arm area. The pain was so extreme I couldn't even sleep, I tossed and turned for the next couple of hours before I decided to lay down on a sofa outside at the living room to sleep. The next day, I went to see a doctor about my condition. He said that my bicep area tendons were swollen, but he couldn't find anything else wrong.

He also got me to do a range of motions, which I could actually do, like stretching my left hand all the way to my back, raising it all the way up, etc. But I could not even raise a simple weight of 1kg with my left hand though. So I got prescribed some medicine and painkillers for my bicep area when apparently I told him my upper arm area (the middle deltoid area) was having an intense pain during the middle of the night.

It has been 5 days already and my condition isn't improving. I am really afraid that I might be diagnosed with the wrong medical condition. The thing is, now even when I lie down on my bed, the pain comes immediately.. has anyone experienced the same situation as I do?

I am currently being prescribed Thermalgesic, Paracetamol and Diclofenic to help improve my condition.

Thanks for the read, English is not my main language, so please pardon the grammar mistakes that I am making.

Go see a sports medicine ortho or well regarded PT if you can. Sounds like you might be having some muscle spasms that could be set-off by any variety of injury. Many folks with shoulder injuries have to sleep in a recliner for a period of time.

I've got a similar condition going on, nowhere near that bad anymore. Doctor said rotator cuff tendonitis. Starting PT tomorrow after putting it off due to 3 months of sending season.

Biceps tendons run at the anterior shoulder side, so below the anterior deltoid not middle deltoid.

Also, lying on the back probably does not trigger pain in the biceps tendons.

Being able to raise arm in all directions without problems does not speak for a problem arising from the shoulder joint but rather from a torn muscle or tendon (rotator cuff).

These sound like similar symptoms to what i'm feeling, my doctor told me it's rotator cuff tendonitis, but i'm also experiencing a painful clicking/popping so I suspect it's more serious in my case.

Hi all,

I've recovered from my "so-called" rotator cuff injury. I went to a chinese physicist and did some acupuncture and cupping on my deltoid area, and Physical Theraphy to help lessen the pain, unfortunately after 6-8 times of treatment, the pain however, worsen.

This was when the chinese physicist did blood-letting on some of my shoulder area then followed by cupping, that was when I felt instant relief of all my pain, I could practically move freely after that, however, my strength on my left shoulder has decreased dramatically.

To all those who seek treatment, you guys might want to try going to chinese physician because it really works.

Cheers,
Jer.
