Parking Areas and Approaches

Hello Everyone,
Sorry if this question has come up before. I couldn't find anything like it via the FAQ as well as a search through the forum (although the GPS map in the FAQ looks like it could be quite useful). Anyway, I'm wondering how to identify/choose the approach trails and parking for the various climbs. Here is how I'm going about it.

For Frogland, I went to view map for the Whiskey Peak area via Mountain Project. This opened a Google Map. On this map, I think I identified a small parking area close to the peak. There also appears to be approach trails. I marked where I *think* the parking area is in the map below:

google.com/maps/dir/36.0345…@36.0317287,-115.4550213,1545m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

So two questions. One, did I correctly identify the parking area for Frogland? And two, does anyone use a similar strategy for identifying parking/approach trails?

If anyone has a better method, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks!

Yeah, I have that guidebook (although not in front of me at the moment). I did see that it gives descriptions on the approaches. Although from just reading it, I wasn't confident that there was sufficient information to figure out where to go. I've never been there before and am trying to put together a plan for where to drive and park on the first day.

Bob,

In the guidebook, there is a map at the beginning of the Black Velvet Canyon section which is accurate and shows mileages and the parking area. The dirt road off of highway 160 is rocky and rough.

Yes, the area you marked is indeed the parking area for Frogland, and all of the other routes in Black Velvet Canyon.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
