Is J Tree dog friendly?
|
Can anyone comment on the dog friendliness of Joshua Tree? I know its a National Park which usually means not so dog friendly. |
|
That sounds about right. Thanks! |

Josh is the most UN friendly place on the planet..... |
|
My wife and I took the dog to Josh when we considered the dog our baby (after we had kids it went back to being just a dog). We got some climbing in but it was a pain really. Limited to what you can climb. The dog got tangled up in its leash while we were climbing, had a couple of close calls with cholla, etc. My advice is to take it someplace dog friendly, board it, or just do something else. It's going to be hard to enjoy Josh much otherwise. |

I recall large numbers of coyotes looking for handouts at the campgrounds, they were not afraid of people at all and would happily pounce on your pet. |
|
A friend brought his two (2) dogs out to a JT climb. |
|
The 50 feet from the road rule limits you quite a bit on what climbs you can do. I took a dog once and climbed around intersection rock and then Indian Cove the next day but regretted not being able to go to most of the good areas. |

It's 100 feet from campgrounds + paved roads, not 50, though from a climbing perspective that's not much difference. |

Thanks Happiegrrrl for the offer, but I'm pretty sure I'll be heading to Red Rocks instead. Not many places more dog friendly than that. |

Not true at all, anyplace with LEOs minding the store, will be problematic for your pooch. |

"Take your pooch to NJC, they will be welcomed.... by most climbers. unless Locker is there"
Leave your fucking dogs at home where they fucking belong! ;-) |
|
Good morning.....Locker. |
|
Idiots and their fucking stupid "Crag dogs". |
|
Yeah, the coyotes love them, call them all night. Leave'm home! |
|
How can you be down on all dogs??? |

"How can you be down on all dogs???.
I love dogs. This is mine, Dog. Dog But I honestly DO NOT believe that they belong at the crags. At least not at any popular one(s). Maybe where it would only be you and or your group and zero others around. Be CONSIDERATE and leave the fucking things at home. Believe it or not, not everyone want's your dog sniffing their buttholes. LOL! ;-) |

Locker wrote:" Be CONSIDERATE and leave the fucking things at home. While I agree that dogs and climbing dont mix ( had a girl drop me cause an unattended dog got too close to her) it's obvious from your choice of words that you don't love, nor even like, dogs. Dogs aren't "things" they are beings that are considered by most a part of the family. Michael Vick had a dog and I'm sure shared many a picture of the one he had too! |

Call PETA! I hate my fucking dog! What's obvious is you don't have a fucking clue about what's obvious. EDITED: "had a girl drop me cause an unattended dog got too close to her"... Don't you mean someone's unattended FAMILY MEMBER? LOL! |

Most National Parks are not very "dog-friendly"; having one limits the true adventure that NPs offer. |
