Which one is dry (er)? Looking for moderate trad, sport, crack, quality rock.

Index is the better rock and general climbing but muchhh more likely to be wet (usually, haven't looked at forecasts) - Vantage is more likely to be really cold and dry. Also Vantage is more sport than trad and index is more trad than sport so its up to you!

While it has been several years since I've been there, I am still embarrassed to admit that I've climbed at Vantage more than once.

I'm still embarrassed to admit I've only spent a few days at Index; it was just always wet.

I hear index is the place to hone your aid skills in any weather.

With a good stretch of weather coming in both should be really nice. Index is far superior to vantage. It also has a lot more sport than people think. Go prepared to be humbled there, grades are pretty stout especially compared to vantage.

Also vantage trad climbing is fairly mediocre except for a few standout quality routes, and if you have climbed one sport route on a pillar there you have climbed them all. I recommend the bolted entablature below and sticking to the gear routes with four stars. Just my opinion though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
