I'm looking to share the apartment with up to 3 other visiting climbers, or a climbing couple.

I've been climbing around Red Rocks since 1978-79. I moved here permanently in 1998 and worked as a high end commercial finish carpenter. 2010 I retired. There is a member profile here and I am in some guidebooks.
I am not climbing as hard as I used to; still I try to climb a couple times a week; so a climber's lifestyle.

I live modestly and do a few road trips in the summer and fall. The location of the apartment (near Torrey Pines and Lake Mead) seems a bit distant from Red Rocks but because your entrance to the freeway and Summerlin Parkway is so close, it is about 25 to 30 minutes driving time to the loop station entrance. It's actually a pretty convenient neighborhood for day to day logistics; 2 Hispanic Markets (the low cost deal in Vegas), Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are close.

It's also well situated if you like the limestone of Mt. Charleston in summer. It's a matter of opinion, but I think the Charleston area and some of the limestone crags are the "real sleeper" yet to be developed areas around here. Two blocks driving and you are on the US 95 to Kyle Canyon. 20 minutes to Desert Rock Sport and the Red Rocks Climbing Gym. Don't neglect Lime Kiln, Arrow Canyon, Rainbow Canyon and the St. George areas either. From the north end of town a day trip is not out of the question.

To help defer housing expenses, I listed the apartment share on Airbnb at $16 a night. That's 50% of my daily housing expense. Airbnb adds a commission and a host fee for me, on top of costs, to manage the website and bookkeeping.

Nothing wrong with camping (I spend a good bit of time in the back of my Toyota Tacoma each year), but for what is charged at Red Rocks:

Limit 10 people per campsite.
$15 per night per site.
Two vehicles per site.
A sand tent pad is provided for approximately 2 tents...

or Kyle Canyon campgrounds (rates from $15 to $40 per night), there is a lot left to be desired especially if conditions become dire...just saying.

It has become increasingly difficult to free "dirtbag" vehicle camp around Red Rocks or Mt. Charleston.

Consider this a modest upgrade from a hut or hostel situation; but of course not as cheap as the Red Rock Canyon campground (the Gulag), which can be very noisy, smoky, crowded, windy, sandy, cold or hot... Not that this run down neighborhood is anything you want to Instagram to your mom...It's nicknamed "The Baby Ghetto"

What the campground lacks which is provided here is: lights, air conditioning, a queen size bed/clean linen, futon for a third person, your private bathroom with hot shower, flush toilet, warm lighted space to hang out in, high speed wireless, washer/dryer, sink, stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender, aviation strength filtered coffee in the mornings, French Press, enough utensils to produce a healthy meal..and the super friendly seductress cat, Amy.

Last week of March. About normal warm and dry right now.

I am now looking for longer term roommates for the summer and early fall. You need to like cats and be willing to feed and water Amy cat while I am away.

I'm booked most of April till the 23rd.. After that next open slot begins middle of May. Red Rock Rendezvous occurs April 1 to 3, 2016. Slots in June are open if you are interested in climbing around Mt. Charleston. I usually migrate high mid May.

You can check what former guests say and my booking calendar on the Airbnb site if you follow the link above. Airbnb computers will only show you available dates, so if you request a time and it doesn't show up in the results, somebody got there before you.

If you have never used Airbnb you register a profile on their servers (I never see your personal information), contact me through the site for questions, book and pay online with a credit card or PayPal.

Airbnb is reliably computerized, works on trust and transparency; their commission varies depending on the length of your booking. Consider I am lot more simpatico than the campground host or most park rangers.

The trade off...Besides a warm or cool place to stretch and do body weight exercises, there a few climbing mags, guidebooks and climbing videos around....You can dump your pack and gear on the living room floor at the end of the day; nobody drives past early or late spewing exhaust. No rodents, no trash campfires, no RV generators, a few birds singing in the morning...(the doves, pigeons, feral cats and starlings hang out near the trash dumpsters early morning around here). You have to step outside to see the sunrise and morning glow on the La Madre Range and Spring Mountains.

I'd just like to say you are pretty awesome for posting a room on here.... This really is an awesome service. Now people have little to no reasons to not come out to vegas and climb!
Stay awesome and keep on keeping on!!

Hey Thomas, Tried to check availability for November 27-30 and only the 27th shows up. Is the 28th-30th booked already?

Ben,

November 28th through 30 and beyond to December 13th is booked. Airbnb won't let you inquire about dates already reserved; one of things I like about their accounting.

November 24 through 27 is open.

Hey, I did ElCondor years and years ago and thought it was a pretty sweet face climb. Almost did it again in September but figured my second might unravel.

I was thinking about you guys the other day. Late September John Bald met us at Shuteye Ridge for a couple days and Scott Carson (IME Utah) was there as his partner.
We almost threw that road trip out in the trash because of California fires and I was looking at Maple Canyon or Indian Creek. Smoke settled and then...3 days into the trip a heat wave set up around North Fork, we bailed and ended up going to Tuolomne and closing the place. Great trip!

Andy, locally we got unsettled weather...maybe the most random I have experienced for a while. We'll see....

I filled out a request for the 14th-18th with my friend, will you be around? Never been out to Red Rocks and would definitely appreciate some guidance from a wise master.

My partner tore a pulley, and we might be backing out. If someone else is interested in the time slot we can make it available. Don't want to give up hope for this trip yet, but if someone is super stoked to take this great deal then it would make our decision a tiny bit easier.

An Italian couple just took the December slot from 14th to 24th.

Edgar was afraid of heights. However...Turns out Natasha had previously climbed. We took her to Viagra Towers and she followed her first gear lead. Try explaining to someone who doesn't speak climber lingo English (when you don't speak Italian) how to remove placed cams. She got every one. Then the adjacent top ropes. Good place for a cold breezy short day.
They are off to San Diego this evening and then Natasha goes to Thailand.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
