Sauratown End of Season

I was hoping to get a second trip to Sauratown in before access closes at the end of Feb. Had it planned for Friday. Forecast Friday looks fine but obviously there is going to be significant snow up there tonight and Thurs. Would you risk a trip on Friday? As steep as the rock is and with the tiered roofs on the right side I am thinking that it could be pretty dry, but not sure. I know the approach could be a mess, but I can live with that if the rock if dry. I just dont want to drive 2 hours each way and take the day off only to waste my time. Anyone with Sauratown experience that can offer any opinion? Also, heard a rumor that CCC might be able to add an addtional week to the lease because of the bad weather but I cannot confirm that. Has anyone heard the same? Thanks!

Given the amount of snow and expected cold temps, my guess is it won't be accessible on Friday. It also tends to form decent sized ice on top and that comes down as it warms up, making it pretty sketchy. Don't know where you heard the one week extension rumors unless you see a communication from the CCC on our website and/or Facebook page, it's not true. We did get it extended through Sunday (technically the lease ends on 2/28). My guess is by Saturday / Sunday it might be climbable if we get decent melting. Sun will go a long way up there to speeding up the melt.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
