It will get some sun in the afternoon. It won't be hitting the rock enough to actually warm it up. Mostly it will just be in eyes when you look up.

Thanks for info were coming down Thursday for a week with the snow and rain looks like we'll be going on some long hikes. Oh well.

There are a couple limestone sport climbing areas very close to town that are an alternative to the wet sandstone. Check out Urban Crag and Gun Club areas, they offer a fun day of climbing without much of a hike in case of bad weather.

If you have a car, check out all the limestone areas between Mesquite and St George along the I-15 corridor. St George also offers nice basalt climbing, all of which are good alternatives when the sandstone is wet. And remember that J-Tree is only 3 hours from Vegas too.
