Hello,

My husband and I are going to be visiting in April from Minnesota and plan on top rope climbing at pinnacle peak. We want to make sure we have all the right equipment when we come.

If someone could post us an equipment list, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi Lauren,

Pinnacle Peak is pretty much a trad climbing area. Probably consult one of the guidebooks for solid gear Beta on specific routes. Pinnacle Peak itself must be lead, but there are several sub-crags that can be top roped, including Cactus Flower and Loafers Choice. Cactus Flower has almost 20 climbs that with the combination of bolted anchors and trad gear (some up to 4 or 5 inches) you can easily set up with ratings from 5.6 to 5.10.

If you want to expand your considerations there are plenty of top ropes in the nearby McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

PM me with an email address and I can send you a bunch of route photos of those crags as well.

Good luck,
Erik
