But nkane, you can kick off tape and the foothold is gone forever. The with the color hold, you can eventually find out if the hold is on(with enough scrubbing). If only there was the technology to both see the hold quickly but still not kick off the tape. This is something future scientists will surely struggle with for generations to come.
'Unless, of course, you live in some godforsaken place like Pennsylvania and you have to resort to climbing eliminates in order to justify the gas you burned waiting in traffic on the Blue Route trying to get to your scruffy boulder.' Livezey??

I guess if you really wanna have a gym wherever you want, and have it outside--YEA! Let's put colored tape on a wall in the desert! The old crusties don't like it because their old, traditional way of climbing has been taken over by some younger hooligans that have no regard for the natural beauty of nature. Rock should look like rock, not like the place that people go to to pay to train so they can be fit enough to climb that natural rock.
Heads up bro! Next thing you know some'll want to drop in on Fantasia or Fear no Evil and compare their similar 3 knob mantles and tape those too!
The colored tape is back! Thanks to all who helped bring this pressing issue to the attention of the powers that be.

I know this thread was conceived half-jokingly, but I remember visiting on a guest pass and bumbling around for the starts. Glad to hear it's been reverted to the old (i.e. better) system.
