I noticed a nice looking alpine buttress headed home to Colorado Springs from Shelf Road today, visible to the west from Hwy 115. It lies a little to the south of Blue Mountain, and its approximate coordinates are 38.6758911,-104.9294727.
I'm interested in any info, photos, beta, stories. Does anyone know anything about it?
Andrew, Those rocks have always caught my eye driving down to shelf. I even took an afternoon and drove up most of the dirt roads seeing if I could get to anyone of the cool looking crags/buttress and every road led to private property. I concluded that the best way to get out there was from the north and west via Old Stage Coach Rd. But what do I know? I'd be willing to explore. Darren
Penrose-Rosemont reservoir. take FR 373 to the fork, choose the left/east fork. takes you just under/south of green mountain. Road ends at little turkey creek. follow that downhill maybe. Just eyeballing the distance to where I think your rocks is at 1.5-2 miles. post pics.
Any pictures? The closest I've been back there is probably hiking Mt. Rosa. It looks like you might be able to hike in coming from Old Stage. Anyone know if the PP Atlas covers that area? I'll check when I get home tonight.
