Heading out to Colorado end of the month and looking for some WI4-7 / up to M8 multi pitch climbs! Ive been combing MTN project but am super overwhelmed! Was looking at Hoosier Pass/Lincon falls , vail , etc. But any input from some locals on CLASSIC must do climbs and conditions would be appreciated beyond belief.

If you don't want to drive the extra bit to Cody, WY or to Telluride, Silverton, or Ouray, then the best option for you is Estes Park. "RMNP - Mixed/Ice" has a lot of great multi-pitch and a number of hard climbs, but most things are condition-dependent (as is most ice climbing!). I'm from MN also and I moved out here 25 years ago. Let me know if you need specific ideas, but MP has a lot of routes to choose from under "Favorites" if you look up the above names.

Dude, it's been 70 degrees and sunny in CO for the past week.

Also, there's the "2014-2015 CO Ice Conditions Thread." Have you looked there? mountainproject.com/v/11005…

Honestly, don't come to CO right now. Fattest and best ice in the country is in the Northeast. Bring gaiters, the snow is deep.

Jon is right about the conditions, but you can try for an early start in the morning and climb really fast! It will get cold soon again.

Erik:

When you get to the front range, contact me, i live 45 min from rocky mountain national park, and can take you up to loch vale or other "not too far" e.g. approach times- to climb some descent water ice. 3035879493 wx ph

Thanks SW! Now we are Leaving on Friday March 6th for CO. I assume the conditions are getting better out that way with the snow? Thanks for the offer and your #, I will contact you once we are closing to leaving or close to RMNP.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
