Description
Small basalt cliff that has about 30 climbs. Routes are mostly bolt-protected, though many are "mixed" in that they need a piece of gear or two. Cams in the range of 0.4-3" is sufficient. The grading could be considered a little soft, with the listings coming in at 5.9-5.11+, but most routes have a distinct, brief, and/or avoidable crux. Quality of rock is great in parts, and has cleaned up well over the years, but there are still plenty of rattly blocks and varying-sized chunks on ledges (especially after a wet winter).
Aside from loose rock, the two major local hazards are poison oak - which grows rampant just off the base trail, and even on/near some routes - and rattlesnakes - which tend to be reclusive and timid, so just keep an eye out and give them space.
The crag has definitely grown in popularity over the years, and you are less likely to have it all to yourself on those rare but glorious sunny between January and April. There is only space for around five cars at the pullouts, so please be mindful of how you park.
Getting There
Driving on HWY14 from White Salmon, take a left on Old Highway 8, and follow it to just past the main lake. You will see the cliff on the uphill side of the road a few hundred feet past the lake.
