Chamonix ski guide suggestions?

Hey everyone-
I'm heading to Chamonix for a few days on the tail end of a work trip, and I'd like to get a day or so of off-piste skiing in. I'm not at all familiar with the terrain over there so I'd like to hire a guide. Does anyone have any recommendations for guide outfits over there? Anyone I should avoid? First time over there, so any other info/tips about the area would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There is a guy on here (If I remember correctly) JPVallone.
I got some gear from him awhile back, and remember chatting about
him guiding in the Chamonix area for skiing. Maybe send him a PM.

I can not offer any guide suggestion but I would suggest that if the weather is nice that you take a day to ski the Vallee Blanche. You really do not a guide for it. But you do need a bottle of wine, pate, stinky cheese, and bread. Take the Telépherique to the Aiguille du Midi, enjoy the view of Mont Blanc, then head down. Take the train back down to the Valley.

Get in touch with Adam George. He is a great guide and lives out there full time.

If you are not set on Cham, I had a fantastic experience in La Grave with these guys: skierslodge.com

Really cool setup with a B&B with exceptional food and great guiding for a very reasonable price. And the off-piste in La Grave is world class. JPVallone was guiding with them when I was there a few years back. Check em out.

+1 for Borealis.

Spent a week with Forest in J-tree this past fall on an AMGA exam and had a great time. Chamonix based, IFMGA certified, ski touring guidebook author, funny and professional. He knows the terrain and is a great person to spend time in the mountains with.

Just go to Compagnie des guides. They are across the street from the tourist office.

2nd for JPValone, this is his website: provallone.com/

He is a summit county local/expat who seems to be in europe guiding most of the year.
