Climbing with son and Guide Around Phoenix

I know I asked about Prescott a few weeks ago, but it looks like plans are changing.

I might be staying closer to Phoenix. Any recommendations for a place to climb and guide for the Phoenix area? I want to climb with my 16y/o son who has very little trad experience.

Thanks for any recomendations!

I recommend pretty much any part of Pinnacle Peak. It is one of my favourites since I was very young. Great climbing all around.

Ditto what was said above. Add in McDowell's and you have pretty much any type of climbing you need for a short while.

Edit: Are you looking for A GUIDE in the Phx area or just areas to guide your son on?

Just be aware - both places are fairly sandbagged and many routes are not well protected. Some routes are mixed, some are pure trad, some are just bolted. The bolted stuff is pretty spaced + committing first bolts. However, you can set topropes on some routes.

If you are looking for a guide, a friend of mine lives there and is a kickass person and professional guide. If you are interested, send me a pm so I can put you in touch.

Yes, that is him :)

Thanks for the replies!

Yes I'm looking for a guide. I've climbed Pinnacle Peak several times and looking for a little more adventure than PP. Will look at McDowell's.
