Do any of the rock sport crags in summit county get strong winter sun? With the crowds skiing on this holiday weekend and the 50 degree weather, we're wondering about climbing!

If you don't get any responses in time here, swing into Mountain Outfitters on ridge st. in Breck. They know most of the climbing in the area and are great people with an awesome shop.

There are sunny crags in 10 mile canyon. Whitecliff is one of my favs. Or, ski into the diving board out on the south side of Quandry. Also, there are climbs below and skiers left of Cristo Coolie. Watch for avy danger around there though.
When I lived in Summit I would go to 11 mile canyon, Clear creek and sunny spots in the S. Platte/front range.
These are better options because they are warm, not just look warm. In 2 hours from Summit you can be at a ton of different crags that are warm in winter. Shelf road comes to mind as well.

I climb the wolcott crags all winter. I was there yesterday. It was around 60 degrees. There were no less than 10 ppl climbing as well. The sun hits the wall from 930-4 so plenty of time to get many routes in. The local guidebook has around 50 climbs up there but appears to be many more with new development happening. Very colorful place to climb midwinter.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
