We are planning a missed honeymoon and want to know if there are any island resorts/Jamaica/Hawaii/ Puerto Rico/ Costa Rica that have cool climbing? Has anyone had an experience like this? We are hoping to stay in the Caribbean.

The Baths in the British Virgin Islands have some fantastic bouldering. . .

No worthy climbing in Costa Rica. Good surf though.

Maui has some potential for bouldering. Some pretty cool lava tubes out there with horizontal roofs for days. No real rope routes though.

Saint Lucia should have some potential .

End of the world on the west side of the big Island of Hawaii is great.

Puerto Rico has many great developed crags for sport climbing and Bermuda has cool beach bouldering as well as some deep water soloing.

I'm in Costa Rica and just had a distant look at the Crestones up on Chirripo. Looks don't mean much but if I had time I'd definitely be getting a closer look. Very impressive. Of course, they could be junk...locals would surely know more.

Thanks Mark.

E Larson, if you are interested in this winter, contact me immediately as I am headed to the Brac soon and will be practically incommunicado until April.

Check out Mokuleia on Oahu if you are interested in Hawaii. It just reopened, and it is a pretty high quality sport crag. Nearby is the Jungle, which has a decent mix of trad and sport. Mike at Climb Aloha is a good resource.

Another great option is heading to Europe, and sampling some of the Mediterranean islands such as Mallorca, Sardinia, Kalymnos, etc.

Good to hear that Oahu got reopened. I know the route developers put some serious money/effort into that wall, including titanium bolting hardware IIRC.

We are planning for next year. Late fall/winter. Thank you all for the feedback. I am glad to hear that there are so many places to go with beta.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
