OR Chaos vs Patagonia DAS

Hey guys, looking for some thoughts from those of you who might have some experience with these.

For background, I'm hoping to invest in a nice warm synthetic jacket that I could use as a belay piece. In addition, it wouldn't hurt if this could turn into my around town winter jacket and possible layering piece for other activities.

I've heard of a lot of people owning and loving their DAS, any experience with the Chaos? Any pros or cons for either? Are these impossible to layer over with a shell? How do you usually size either jacket with respect to your typical sizing (I wear a medium in pretty much everything else, but don't know if I should go a size up)?

Pretty much anything would be helpful! Unfortunately no stores around me carry these, so I can't try them on myself.

I like my Das for throwing over everything for a belay jacket for ice/ rock cragging, but don't use it on multi pitch climbs because its too bulky. Look for a jacket with primaloft one, Rab makes one, La Sportiva makes one and I am sure others do as well.

edit: OR Chaos is primaloft gold which is the same as primaloft one.

Sizing on the DAS is the same as your regular layers. It is cut extra big to fit over everything and then some.
Pro: warm, wind and moisture resistant
Cons: Gets dirty easily
I wear mine around town, the hood is pretty bulky when driving (when its down and squeezed between your head and the seat.

I have both. OR Chaos is lighter weight and more compressible than DAS, and therefore not as warm.

Doligo - How do the jackets fit in comparison to each other? Looking on Backcountry, it seems that the Chaos (maybe the new model?) has 50g more insulation than the current DAS, so I'm curious if that will actually be bulkier?

DAS has more insulation - according to Backcountry.com, it has regular 120g insulation plus 60g on the chest area. To tell you the truth, I own the older DAS - I would never bring it on a climb, unless I was single pitch cragging. I have carried Chaos on climbs - it's pretty nice, it stuffs into its own pocket. The only iffy thing about it is the zipper is not burly enough, I'm afraid it'd go out soon. My understanding is OR have re-designed Chaos from a boxy fit to a nice athletic cut. I have the women's jacket and Medium fits me perfect (I'm Medium in most garments). Patagonia on the other hand, has been on a trend to make their clothes with boxier cuts and vanity sizing. I'm pretty disappointed with them.

I have a newer DAS.
It's insanely warm. Almost too warm.
As a belay jacket it's great for single pitch cragging, but I wouldn't want to drag it up multipitch. Too bulky. comes with a stuff sac but it's about the size of a football. Great big interior pockets for shoes. Super warm hood and pockets. Mine is the super hi-vis orange one for cheap on ebay. Great for when you want to look like a giant traffic cone.

My normal around town get up is a long sleeve lightweight base, a midweight fleece and a 100g primaloft jacket (older Pat micro puff).
This is perfect in 5-25º temps when just walking around and great when working or otherwise being active. The DAS is overkill; it has me sweating after walking a few blocks.

Sizing on mine is noticeably more fitted than my old micropuff (both mediums). It hugs me well. That said, I still feel a little like Ralphy's kid brother from A Christmas Story because of the bulk of it.

So yeah, great for sitting around at the belay on the ground. Or for serious cold temps.
