I posed an inquiry a couple of days ago about Strawberry Pinnacles conditions.
Took a long drive with my partner Dave Sorric yesterday to search for ice.
Here what we learned on our venture to the following areas.

Strawberry Pinnacles - Very little ice.

Right Hand Fork Indian Canyon - the only thing close to being in was Raven
Falls. Bottom P1 curtain not quite down far enough and a way out
the wall. P2 looked great.

Indian Canyon - no ice.

Dirtcicle/Pricicle - Still there. Stable but wetter than normal. Warm temps
causing quite a bit of rock debris with ice chunks scattered at the
base. Probably happening late in the day. We were there about 3pm.

Provo - Well, most avid ice climbers already know but for those who don't.
Very Dismal!
The least amount of ice (almost non-existent) that I have ever
witnessed in the 24 seasons that I have been lived here.

Temps for the most part ranged in the low to high 40's most every where or higher.

I was afraid of that. My neighbors at Strawberry said the snow pack has been no better there than the Wasatch in Provo and BCC areas. So not much to melt for ice it sounds like:( Thanks for the update...

Weekend Update: We went to Joe's:
Melty Way - Gone
CCC - Lower Pitch is in, Upper pillar is out
Donor - The ice is in and good to the ledge - in hind site, I should have led it up to the ledge. The second half of the pillar is broken out where it comes over the lip.

Hanging Slab Gully, Scruffy Band, GWI...not a glimmer.

Crazy season...heavy sigh...

What ice?

65 degrees in Provo Canyon today, only ice I saw was about a 6 foot section that was stubbornly hanging on, halfway up the right side of Bridal Veil.

NE couloir of storm is in good shape. this pic is of the first ice step. steep steppy snice for about 45 meters. There is also a 15 m water ice step higher up the route and some rock pitches. everything except the upper 600' vertical is good front pointing.

first ice step

Anything in the deep canyons of Zion? Assume not. How about Quebec?

Alan, what is the approach for this line on Storm?

Michael, you go up stairs gulch, gain about 800'vertical on the summer trail. Where the avy debris hits the trail thats where you start going up. There are some details on this site for the route. The ice is quite aerated and is hard to protect.

Alan, how long did it take to climb? What was your total cat to car time? I think I saw you on your last rappel, right before reaching the stream.

Since there is so little going on in Utah right now I thought I would post this. If I offened anyone I am sorry.
If you climb ice you must take 7 minutes to watch. Interesting and informative a history lesson for some and a reminder for others. I give thanks every time I single swing a Nomic or place and Express.

Ice is coming back in Provo Canyon...drove through yesterday and all climbs were starting to reform....Wunderground Weather has a link to a weather station at mile marker 10 in Provo Canyon and it estimates the night time temps for the next 10 days as: 34, 26, 21, 17, 20, 24, 25, 27, 30 and 30. We may get a very exclusive "2015 Limited Season" for those who haven't given up hope just yet.

There is some alpine freeze/thaw ice on both sides of perlas ridge right now. Would be a long hike up there but it might be alright. Very visible from the green a gully.

Anyone been to upper Broad's Fork recently? Saw some interesting pics the other day, taken a few days before (so, probably 4-5 days ago?)

Any updates from provo canyon? Its been cold the last few nights and looks like it be in the 20's for a low down there the next few nights...A freind of mine climbed Frozen In Time in BCC a few days ago. He said it was in decent shape. Seams like we might be getting into our 3rd short ice season around here in northern Utah this year..

I drove by on the 22nd and there was just patches of verglas on stairway and bridalveil.
Fang looked a little better but it will take a miracle to produce anything climbable
days are too long now.

hope this helps

Based on your pictures I have determined it is mid-October in the Wasatch.

More ice than I was expecting to see up there with the weather lately. Looks overcast with a little snow and low temps in the teens the next few days.
