Sticky rubber tape? Does it exist?

I've always been curious, is sticky rubber tape a thing? I'm thinking of something like electrical tape but made of a rubber compound similar to the rubber climbing shoes are made of.

Sounds like grip tape. What is it for?

Google "Mastic Tape" and see if that is what you are looking for.

Mastic Tape is indeed sticky...and rubber. However, do not use this for rock (crack?) climbing. At best, its so sticky that its simply cheating, at worst, it will make a helluva mess. I work with the stuff often...

Use hand jammies or something.

For hands? Those tapes mentioned above aren't as sticky or breathable at athletic tape.

This is probably the closest thing to what you are looking for but its rather expensive.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it is stretchy and has a rubbery coating on the outside. Its not the same as other kinseo tapes that typically have a cloth exterior. I've been wanting to give it a try but hate to waste the money.

Plus you'd prob have to help the adhesion with something like tincture of benzoin or something similar.

i was bored and had some extra stealth rubber "paint" left over from a shoe fit. I made the thinnest pair of crack gloves I could muster and coated them. They are actually kinda sweet, but not for thin cracks. The rubber made them more reusable too. Not good enough to warrant buying stealth rubber paint, but fun for a rainy day.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
