I think it was an issue with paying the taxes... definetl not the same vibes.... |

Who would want to eat their breakfast next to a porta potty? Gross!this could very well be a strategic advantage depending on the quality of the cuisine... |

This fall was my first trip to the gunks and I went to this deli.... Took 15 min to get an over toasted bagel with butter... I was not impressed.... Seems to me a breakfast food truck might do well there |

Shortly after reopening we stopped for subs (in a pinch/lunch needed). Pretty lame offering, basic generic sub roll with mediocre toppings. Nothing wrong with it aside from it being adequate at best and relatively expensive for what it actually was (in terms of quality). Supposedly "things improved" after but it doesn't sound it. Or at least, no one's posted here singing their praises. |

Stopped in there this past fall; smelled like a dead mouse decomposing in the store near the milk cooler. Staff didn't seem to notice; not a good sign. I won't be back any time soon. |

All the good, interesting sandwich recipes have been traded for generic crap. The character & vibe are nonexistent. I went towards the bathroom which the door was wide open, I was stopped verbally by the guy behind the counter telling me the bathroom was not for customers. I responded by saying "so I can't make room for the coffee I'm about to buy? what happened to the pisser outside?" The reply I got was that the pisser freezes in winter and was reluctantly told to "go ahead". |

going climbing should have nothing to do with where you get your sandwiches or go out to eat unless youre climbing in Vegas baby. |

Once upon a time they had an outdoor bathroom open 24/7 with a tap outside to fill your water bottles. |

If you're not camping, then it should be easy to find someplace else. |

I can think of three or four places I'd recommend, including the taco place that's in the same plaza as the beer distributor.Taco Shack! :) Personal faves if we're now moving on to that subject... The Jamaican food restaurant that recently moved to the Rock and Snow part of town (get the goat curry!): yelp.com/biz/jamaican-choic… Main Street Bistro in downtown that offers a quality and cheap breakfast: mainstreetbistro.com/ Anatolia (Turkish) on the main street is really good: anatolianp.com/ Of course after climb burgers/bar menu (the dinner menu food is okay too) at Bacchus. Don't drink but I guess the beer selection is good. ^^^ These are all places I've been to more than once, most of them MANY times. Eating out after climbing is a tradition with my group. In case the New paltz tourism board needs to know - not all climbers are poor, college aged kids and/or locals who go home to eat. ;) |

I was so happy to see the Jamaican place move closer within town. They used to be out at the shopping strip by the Bank of America/Movie House. I love their Chicken Roti. |

Um the new place now has beer... just sayin'. |

Simon Thompson wrote:Um the new place now has beer... just sayin'.and I cant believe nobody mentioned this. I like this store better now even if I rarely leave home without a few icy cold ones in the cooler for post climb parking lot sessions. |
