desert shoes??
|
Hey im coming out to the desert for the first time in march, wondering what are some good shoe options for sand stone.. I am mostly on granite and it is usually TCpros or Katana lace for shoes. |
|
It depends of course on specifically where & what types of routes you will be climbing. Splitters? Steep face? Moderate multi-pitches? |
|
If you're in the creek and not wearing Moccs then you're doing it wrong. |
|
The shoes you have should work pretty well. A "pure crack shoe" like the moccs or mythos would be good to have if you want to save some of the life of your TCs. |

Mythos are a good all around shoe |

Roy Suggett wrote:Mythos are a good all around shoeThey are good for very tight hands to fingers. If you use them on cracks larger than than, you'll spend your trip relacing them. Lots of other options out there nowdays that don't have short bus lacing. |

Get a pair of Astorman. They are burly and will take the beating your gonna give them being it's your first time to the desert. Get them fit for socks and it'll add some cushion. Tc pros and katanas are great desert shoes but they will both probably get pretty torn up. |

For the Creek: |

comfortably sized mocs, toes completely flat, and you will be hiking routes while your partners struggle in their tc pros and other shoes. Also put a couple coats of free sole on top of the mocs and they will last much longer. |

Gets some Moccasyms one size smaller than your street shoe. Or at least a half size. |

cheers. From the theme of the advice i would guess that soft rubber shoes like the mochs work best. I have climbed with the Mythos in the past was not so excited by there performance though. |
