I like to create and post detailed topos using photoshop. I used to be able to just update the photo when a correction or addition was made. Now, not only am I unable to update my photo to be more accurate, but I also am not able to delete the old photo and upload the new correct one, because the photo has been commented on! I'm not sure I get the logic. The only solution I see would be to post essentially a duplicate photo with the minor changes, which would obviously not be ideal for mountain project or any of the users...

Why was this feature disabled, and is there any way I can still accomplish this? I probably will stop posting photos like these if this feature is gone for good, which would suck cause I like doing stuff like this.

Here is the photo in question:

A special place. Not an exhaustive topo by any stretch.

We had a bunch of bugs related to that feature, and it was VERY rarely used.

Why not use the built-in "Topo Photo" feature? That remains editable over time.

Thanks Nick. Not really a solution for me. I like making and tweaking the topos with the flexibility and power of Photoshop. It's not just information sharing for me, there is certainly an artistic element to it as well. I would be satisfied if I could just remove a picture and re-submit, but that feature has been disabled too...

The mp topo tool is not a solution... It's a compromise. @J Marsella if you think you can achieve the same results with the mp tool as you can with Photoshop, then your skills are far beyond mine.

The overlay toggle of the MP topo tool is certainly something that has a leg above my PS versions... Maybe they (Nick!) could add an overlay feature to the beta photo upload! That would be so awesome to be able to upload my photo of just the area or route, and a secondary transparent .png with all my topo markings and information, that one could then toggle just as you do with the mp topo. (this .png layer would need to have the replace feature intact though, or else we'd be stuck with the original problem).

I get the utility of the MP topo tool. I do. maybe I am a unique case, I just want more (a lot more) creative control than the tool allows.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
