Hi all, I am visiting Avon for a few days in late february. I know you guys are covered in snow but is there a crag that can still be accessed and climbed anywhere? I would be fine with either roped climbing or bouldering, just looking to check out the CO rock while im in town, any help is appreciated.

Hand Jam, the best chance to get on some rock keeping in mind the weather will most likely be at Puoux in Glenwood Springs. Its south facing with afternoon sun and only 30 minutes down I70. Pm me and we can check it out if you wish.

Wolcott Crags are good to go. The walls are in the sun all day, we climbed in t-shirts just a few weeks ago. The approach down the tracks is a bit like walking through peanut butter but the sandstone was perfect! tons of sport route on the upper tier and some nice crack lines further down the tracks (see Wolcott Navajo Band (east).

Anything south facing in Grand Junction. A bit farther of a drive but better and more climbs available.

Wolcott is great! Especially when its warmer than 50 in Avon. It would suck if it was snowing. The best sun is between 11-4.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
