As already said, An Ice Climber's Guide to Northern New England is in stock at IME for $29.95 ( ime-usa.com/ime/index.html). It'd be worth giving them a call, IME rules. Jon Sykes' book, Secrets of the Notch, also has a pretty good selection of ice climbing areas in it, but only for Franconia Notch. It should also be available at IME, or Eastern Mountain Sports in North Conway. Those are the only guidebooks I know of that feature a wide selection of NH ice climbing. I have them both and can attest to their usefulness/accuracy, you should be able to easily acquire them at reasonable prices too. |

I was in search of a certain book, looked all over, couldn't find it anywhere. Then browsing through the Mountaineer in Keene Valley I saw like 6 copies on the shelf. I'm sure IME has the NE Ice Guide, but if all else fails always good to check the Mountaineer in Keene, they have a library there. |

I was at IME yesterday. They have no new copies of Rick Wilcox's book but had 5 used (water damaged) copies for ~$15 (consignment). There are ~4 left. |
|
An employee told me that Rick has given some local guides permission to take all the info from his book and put it towards an updated book, with new material focusing on all of the mixed routes that have been going up. The bummer is that there's no ETA for this new book. She also mentioned the possibility of a reprint of the current book in the fall. |

I was able to track down a copy at EMS...not on the website... |

Chris72 wrote:I was able to track down a copy at EMS...not on the website... IME does not have themWow that's a surprise. That book is the northeast/New England ice bible, and I've always been able to find it at IME because of Rick. I was just there today but picked up a copy a while ago so didn't check to see if they had them. It's a great guide book... definitely worth getting a copy. Are you an AAC member? One of the member benefits is being able to borrow books from their library (they ship the books to you). I bet they would have a copy you could at least borrow if nothing else worked out. Great option for those hard to find out of print guides or when you are just visiting an area and only need the guide book temporarily. |

Checked with Rick's wife yesterday at IME and they are indeed out of stock. Just ran out last week. Not sure if they're going to run a reprint or not. |

Check out neclimbs.com..good selection of write ups on all sorts of NE areas.you also may be able to score a book from someone there as well |
