Sounds like he should have done it last year when the whole falls froze over... Anyone have any idea what the Black Diamond 'prototype' ice hook is? My guess is a new form of protection where you don't have enough ice depth to place a screw? |

My guess is a new form of protection where you don't have enough ice depth to place a screw? The beginning of the red bull video shows Will prepping to climb. He has a small black picket looking device on his right side. This device seems to have a honeycomb style of matrix, not sure if this is the proto? 0.41 seconds into the vid he appears to have a spectre attached to his harness with yellow webbing. Looks like a normal hook? Dig the both feet in mid-air move at 0.22 secs! |

It was widely reported that the falls froze last year during the polar vortex, but Niagara Falls State Park officials say that Horseshoe Falls has never completely frozen." |

This looks to be for psychological protection at best, and doesn't appear to be able to hold a real fall. I can't wait until they release this to the masses and am curious about Will's review. |
