Ice Gloves?

I have a pair of the alibi's they are SUPER Nice & SUPER Spendy. I have small hands and so they fit pretty good. Downside, I take my Alibi's off when I have to rap because I don't want to burn up the fingers or the palm.

For my day-to-day glove I use a simple insulated leather glove from Cabela's - goo.gl/CCpZGX - $35. They have a new one that is Gore-Tex, going to try it out this year. I take two pairs of these out was plenty comfy for a full day (40+ days climbing in 2013/14). The advantage of these gloves is that I am not swapping out when it comes time for rope work or rapping descents. Dexterity on the leather work glove is good, I can clip without an issue - I can even open a Gu (without using my teeth).

I don't put any sort of weather treatment on my gloves. My own experience is that the oils that make soft/grippy leather also make the glove less resistant to rope burns. I want a little bit of sheen on my gloves, to counter the issue of tack - I wrap tennis tape to my tool shaft and grip.

I am one of those with sweaty hands so I have to dial the temperature is close so not to get my hand too warm and then have the sweat chill my hands.

For cold days near or + or - a few of 0*F my climbing gloves are Rab Latok Glove
for warmer days teens to low 20sF I use Camp Hot Gecko.
for 25* F + degree I use a pair of water resistant work gloves from the hardware store.
for dry tooling I use a pair of underarmor batting gloves.
my belay gloves are a pair of grando ski mittens.

+1 BD Glissade. Great for ice slugging in cold weather. Inexpensive compared to other brand offerings, warm enough for Canada, dexterous enough to manipulate gear, gauntlet cuff, carabiner clip on middle finger. Good belay glove, too, when not cold enough for the giant mitts.

They die after two seasons or less of hard use, like every other glove I ever use. So they are a good value.

For single-day cold weather ice and snow climbing, these are an excellent value.

Another OR Arête vote from me. Ive found them very versatile as I use the liners as every day winter gloves when it's not raining or worse. I'm on my second pair after the tip of one index finger developed a tear along the seam. OR sent the replacements, as advertised, with no questions asked - including a new set of liners! I also have a lighter pair of Marmots. I think they are the Scree? They're grippy enough and pretty bulk-less, but I doubt they'd be very durable for anything serious.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
