Video that captures the essence of climbing in 5 minutes

Hey everyone,

The local high school in my town has a decent climbing wall but no teachers or really anyone else in town that knows much about climbing (the nearest good outdoor climbing is about 4 hours away). The principal recently asked me if I would come in and teach some of the high school kids about climbing and let them try out the wall. If, after my presentation, there is interest, the principal wants me to start a climbing club. I am keen on the idea because I enjoy teaching others how to climb and as I said earlier the nearest good outdoor climbing is about 4 hours away and besides the bouldering gym in my garage this is the only gym I know of in town.

What I'm wondering is if you guys know of any video I could show the kids that would capture the essence of climbing in just 5 minutes. I can't spend much longer on a video because every second we spend watching a film is time taken away from getting on the wall. I do want to show a video, however, because I can't think of another way to communicate what climbing is all about in such a short time.

I realize that this is a pretty open/vague request for video ideas especially because climbing means so many different things to each person that does climbs. I guess what I'm asking for then are approximately 5 minute videos that capture what climbing is and means to YOU.

If you start a climbing club, you should look into insurance, what your liability is and what waivers need to be signed, etc. Consult an attorney in this litigious society. But nice that you're willing to teach kids climbing.

True. The principal and I have talked about that a bit. Thankfully I won't have to get any certifications beyond those I already have. I'm hoping I can be covered under an existing insurance policy the school already has but I will have to look into it more.
