metolius quarter dome upgrade

ive got a metolius quarter dome that I mostly use as a crag bag. the waist belt and shoulder straps are a bit uncomfortable in my opinion and I was thinking about swapping them out with another backpacking setup. I have an osprey pack but the waist strap wont fit in the metolius keeper loops.

has anybody done anything similar?

Not the answer you are looking for, but why don't you just use your Osprey pack? Haul bags are notoriously bad at carrying on your back. Metolius makes Freerider that's supposed to be a better carrying pack or the Cragstation. Cilogear also makes the Hauly pack?

i took the removable hip belt from a backpacking pack and slid it into the haul bag that I use... improved things drastically other than that. you can add a blue foam sleeping pad to the inside circumference to stiffen it up a bit.

also helped on mine and mostly a habit from packing for walls.

i use the quarterdome mainly for cragging to save some wear on my osprey. got a good deal on it here on MP so i went for it. if the approach is involved i usually use my osprey pack.

rob, using a backpacking belt works great for my big haul bag, but i cant get it to fit on the quarterdome.
