Description

This is the type locality of the Lyons Sandstone. The Lyons Sandstone also composes the Rotwand Wall in Eldo and North Gateway, South Gateway and Kindergarten in the Garden of the Gods. At Steamboat Mountain, the rock more closely resembles Wingate Sandstone, which is also composed of dune sand.
