Mens softshell pant recommendation

I've had a lot of difficulty finding some softshell pants to purchase, so I was wondering if someone might steer me in the right direction. I'm 5'10" and seem to have a short legs for my height, my inseam is 29" with a waist of 34". Most gear manufacturers even for size 'small' tend to make a 30" or 31" inseam. Ideally I would be looking for something other than black and with some sort reinforcement along the inner calve area to prevent crampon punctures.

Arcteryx , gamma mx grey .

Medium , short I believe are 29 or 30 " inseam . One inch isn't going to make a difference though , OR buy whatever fits and have them hemmed up . OR wear gators .

All my soft shells are a bit long ( maybe 1/2- 1" ) and I very seldom ever snag em with the pons .

You can also contact NW Alpine and have a custom pair of salopettes or pants made to your specs.
I believe there still in business .

And BTW no crampon patch is imune to punctures , better off with gators if your concerned about slicing those $300.00 pants .

Gators will only somewhat protect you from crampon punctures.

NW Alpine Fast/light pants are nice, they come in a grey.

Thanks for the replies. All of those were good options. Looking online I like the arcteryx the best, but will need to try them on in person to be 100% certain about that. I will also keep the NW Alpine in mind in the future.

I just got a pair of Outdoor Research Cirque pants and they were awesome for an overnight on Mt Whitney. Can't say much else though because I've barely used them.

I have very similar inseam and waist dimensions, and I find Arc'teryx "M" standard length soft shell pants fit me the best.

I have some older Marmot Scree pants that came in a short inseam that are pretty nice that come in shorter lengths. REI used to make some as well that came in different lengths.

I second the mountain hardwear (warlow) hybrid pants. Nice and stretchy, slimmish fit perfect for a base layer. They shed water, snow and chalk well. Even comfortable climbing hard in the gym. Wish they had back pockets though.

The Marmot Scree pants come in three lengths. They have a 34x30. No crampon patch / guard, you'd have to wear gaiters. marmot.com/products/details…

+1 for the OR Cirque Pants. Slim fitting though, so if you have big thighs avoid these. I like the trim fit. No bagging around the knees or calves. Cinches down around my boots. Has a laces hook. I generally wear them without gaiters. Not a hard shell, though. Will wet through under constant exposure to water. Because it's slim fitting, the hand, thigh & back pockets don't hold much.

I also have the OR Alibi pants which are very similar design but beefier material.

I don't have, but would consider the Mountain Hardwear Mixaction pants. Also narrow down the legs. They're waterproof in the seat (Event material).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
