Greetings,

A friend and I are headed up to Hyalite early next week and are looking to camp out. What are the camping regulations and ethics?

Also, we are looking to do some climbing in the Mummy area. how do most folks approach the climbs? Are we looking at boot-packs, or skin tracks?

Thanks!

Camping in the grotto falls parking lot is allright in my opinion if it's just in the car. The parking lot can see a lot of traffic so a tent is not ideal. Another option is the langhor campground, located before the reservoir. To get to the climbs is just a steep hike which can either be accessed from genesis or the ampitheatre. The trails are not marked but boot prints are more than visible this time of year.

grotto falls parking lot is a good place to camp. if you wanna set up a tent just walk over the snowbank on the east side of the lot and set one up there.

yup, thats what I would do. I'm not sure if its buried in snow or not but there is a fire ring and logs to sit on.

As far as finding mummy.
I like the G1 approach. Hike to G1 (trail is on the west end of the parking lot). Head right along the cliff band (there are bolted mixed routs), when the trail splits take the right (lower) trail below that cliff band and follow the boot pack.

From amphitheater. Take the south (main) trail to the amphitheater, follow the trail below "Fat Chance" left through the trees, head up above the cliff band and follow the boot pack.

There are usealy lots of climber about so feel free to ask.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
