Hello, I am Thomas/26/M. I currently reside in Kentucky and am a regular at the Red River Gorge. I have a serious change in my life coming up and I will be hitting the road in early May for an extended climbing/road trip. I am entertaining the idea of finding partners to join my trip for most or parts of my trip. The plan is to just go with the flow and climb where ever and whenever and sight see/relax along the way. I will start in the northeast(NJ) in May and try to stay north (Wyoming, Colorado, Washington) during the summer and work down to the southwest(California, SLC, AZ, NM) US when the weather changes. I currently lead 5.11- sport and 5.10- trad and have a full rack. I have a VW pop-top van that I will be living in and my Australian Cattle dog will be joining me. My perfect partner will be a safe and knowledgeable climber in the same skill level who would be totally stoked to push each other to climb to our full potential. They wouldn't mind living in a van with my dog and I and be clean (for living in a van) and organized. Have a go with the flow spirit as well as unafraid to be adventurous and do things off the beaten path. You must be able to pay for your own food and pitch in a fair share of fuel and insurance. I would be open to anyone who would want to join for a week, a month, or even a couple months. I will also be looking for partners in whatever areas I stop at. If this even sounds remotely like something you would do, shoot me an email and let's see what we can brain storm...

Hi Thomas,

I'm already on a long road trip. I'm presently at Moab and looking for climbing partner.

I'm planning to be in the northweast area (Wyoming, Montana, Washington, etc ...) in May or June and for a few months. I lead 5.12 in sport and 5.10 in trad.

Let me know if your interested to join somewhere.
Cheers,

Pascal

So I'm guessing you're on the road now? Let me know when you're up here in New England. It's been pretty soggy and un-spring-like over the past few weeks. Hoping that'll change soon...

Hey guys! Thanks for the continued interest on this. Road trip has started and just finished a week at the red river gorge. Ill be going home to see family for a week or two and will resume the trip in the second week of may. Ill be heading into the northeast towards rumney gunks and Adirondacks. First week of june ill be at devils tower and second week of june ill be in south dakota. A majority of july and august will be colorado and I might be in the pacific northwest in september. Plans still are pretty loose and nothing is concrete. I'm hoping to be on the road until at least the end of the year...

Hi Thomas, unfortunately you will be at Devils Tower during the falcon closure, if you can be there before I will like to join you for some great climb there.

Have fun,
Pascal

I'll be heading out to CO/WY from the middle of June-middle of August. I'd definitely like to meet up for Vedauwoo, Ten Sleep, Rushmore, Wild Iris, GTNP & RMNP if you'll be around those areas! I'm initially coming out with a couple people but will be (more) free to roam around starting June 20th-ish. Got an email you check more often?

Trip is in full swing! I'm currently jumping between Spearfish Canyon and Devil's Tower. Should be in Ten Sleep next week. My service and internet is pretty spotty but get at me if you'd like to try and meet up!

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that finding a partner through here has worked out better than I ever could have imagined. I have been somewhat documenting our travels here: travelininbertha.blogspot.com My partner has officially departed the journey and I am currently solo. I am thinking about traveling solo for awhile but have semi plans to climb Chattanooga/southeast in February, the red river gorge in march then new river and beyond in april. If you wanna join up, just hit me up...and on the long term I'm looking at bugaboos, tetons, and needles next summer...

Hey Thomas, I'm leaving tomorrow to start van-life-ing it for awhile. Just thought I would throw that info out there if we ever cross paths and are both looking for partners! I'm headed to Chattanooga this week and on out to Colorado. Where are you these days? Also, wondering what it's been like living and climbing with your dog? I know the van living part wouldn't be bad but I'm wondering about climbing, especially long multipitch routes and also I know some national parks don't allow dogs. What do you do with your dog In those situations. Thanks!!

I'm currently in red rock and looking at being back in denver around December 1st. For the most part the dog hasn't been too hard to have around. There have been several occassions where I had to sit a day out and my partner would climb with someone else for the day. For long epic journies like tetons and bugaboos I left her with a dog sitter which she's not a big fan of. As for every day climbing, she's a great crag dog..will hike almost anywhere with us without much help and sleep at the base of the climb when we get there. This also has limited us to few hour long ventures but we could still get a 5 or 6 pitch route in without worrying much. The van has become her home and "crate". I have on occssion left her in the van for the day while climbing. This is of course with leaving food and water and parking in shade, leaving a fan on with the top popped and never above 80 degrees. The "downside" to the van being her home is that she can get extremely nasty when strangers come near the van so I have to always be attentive to people around the van...feel free to ask more questions or possibly start a van life thread? Hit me up in colorado! Pm me for phone number...

Funny, I have a VW Bus and I am hitting the road myself, on the same kind of Journey. You still in the Red? Seems cold. May head out west. You still keen on continuing?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
