Can anyone give me information on this old set of crampons. I found them at an antique store. Thanks.

I have a pair that looks similar. I believe they are post ww2 military surplus mountaineering crampons. I got mine from a surplus store for about 20$ they work great for my purposes.....ice fishing. With the lace up system they use I've never been able to get them tight enough to stay in place for anything else.

I think those look like Eckenstein crampons or a version of them, circa 1908. Far, far earlier than WWII. True antiques! What a great find. How much did you pay?

They are featured in Alpinist 40, or you can find out more here:

or

here

EDIT: You know, after further use of my googleizer I'm not sure if they are Eckenstiens or not but they sure do look old! Even if they are from WWII they are surely an amazing find. Now try to find an old school axe and create a cool wall display...

Is that a figure of an Edelweiss flower on them? Would make them Austrian by origin for sure if it is. Very nice set of old cramps for sure. Collectors item for your climbing history glass display case at home?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
