7 minutes of pure gold. Alex Honnlove (really abc?) explains the climb. Humorous and strangely insightful.

Just out of curiosity, any one know how the ended up getting Fitz up there?

Why on earth is she in front of a camera and why was that footage not destroyed the minute someone viewed it. I honestly do not know how some people are able to go through interviews like that without just leaving.

That was pretty funny. That first question he should of been like "Yeah... they even did a special on me on 60 minutes..."

You can tell "Free climbing" is still a foreign term to her in how she articulates it into her questions. Granted, she has to make it understandable to everyone.

Ask stupid questions if you must, but please ask each one just once. That was painful to watch.

I feel like most news interviews are this dumb, they just never show the raw footage.

I am super curious now what they decided for Fitz though.

According to the NY Times article, Honnold carried Fitz up the East Ledges.

NYT wrote:Many of the climbers’ family and friends are taking an alternate route — one suitable for experienced climbers. It’s known as the East Ledges, a series of fixed ropes that takes less time than the hike but requires some climbing skills. Among those on the way now via the East Ledges is the climber Alex Honnold, who is carrying Tommy Caldwell’s 1-year-old baby, Fitz.

I can't believe I just made through that entire interview, so painful, and yes the interviewer definitely got lost in the Honnlove's eyes, and yes her question was definitely so bad that Alex got distracted by random hikers hahaha

Yes, the article does say that...
"Among those on the way now via the East Ledges is the climber Alex Honnold, who is carrying Tommy Caldwell’s 1-year-old baby, Fitz."

But earlier in the article, it says this:
"About three dozen people are waiting at the top, mostly friends and family. At front of the group is Caldwell’s wife, Rebecca. (She ultimately decided not to bring their 20-month-old boy, Fitz.)"

I enjoyed the Q/A in the NY Times article. I wonder how they work the traverse pitches... How do they get back to the belay after trying it or falling? Seems complicated.

This is all very entertaining. :)
