It sucks not knowing what the hell is going on. Especially when it fucks with your daily living. I can totally relate!

Sorry you're feeling fucked up and GOOD LUCK discovering whatever it is causing it.

I've had all the typical T-cells and B-cells and whatever else counted. Next week I have a follow up. I'll double check.

I did have elevated liver enzymes so I had an ultrasound of the liver, everything there was cool. The enzymes were up because of the muscle inflammation.

Ask your rheumatologist about high doses of fish oil as a supplement. Like 3 or so grams if memory serves. Also, there are components of one's diet that are thought to affect inflammation although I can't remember the specifics.

I read about that yesterday. Unfortunately, my fairly American diet is pretty high in Omega 6 right now. It seems that you can really cause extra inflammation if you supplement O-3 into a high O-6 diet. One of my many dietary goals is to get the O-3's up and the 6 down so this should be viable once I have a moment or two to do some better meal planning.

Possibly Crohn's with some opportunism looking at your history, and it seems to be responding to the steroid. Trouble with weight, skin issues, joint pains, and some of the other items you describe, assuming there's something un-related to climbing going on.

It'll be tough to nail it though.

It can have a genetic predisposition and is non-autoimmune. More about an imbalance of pro and anti inflammation mediators. Your blood/immune counts can be normal but may be underactive leading to the opportunism and inflammation.

Also, might want to ask about adding in something to control to reflux. & ask if they ran an h.pylori check on your blood.

For SURE Lyme needs to be ruled out. Lyme can look like basically anything.

I'm glad to hear you're getting some relief, though I'm sure being on steroids isn't much fun either.

Just wanted to echo what others said earlier; bear the possibility of depression in mind. A great deal of new research suggests that many depression cases have a significant inflammatory component, and patient's will have elevated inflammatory markers such as CRP and ESR. So there may be even greater overlap in the future between psych and rheumatology.

Just an FYI. It sounds like you have plenty of signs suggestive of other rheumatologic disease. And none of us expect you to spout off about your mood state in a stupid MP forum. :)

It might be worth trying an auto-immune diet protocol for a month or two. Some people see major improvements with diet changes, others don't. But the upside can be huge, and the downside is just that it's a bit of extra work cooking and shopping.

Diet changes are a lot of work initially, but get easier pretty quickly.

Have your doc check your prostate, make sure he doesn't reach up and grab both of your shoulders during the exam though.

legs,

If you're still looking for a chiropractor Dr. Steve seems to get plenty of good results.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
