Kind of a shot in the dark, but snowkiting is still pretty young and there's not much of a community (like climbing). I'm wondering if there's any snowkiter/climbers here would would consider sharing some beta for SoCal. Basically I'd like to do some backcountry snowkiting in the Mammoth region. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
k

I would like to re-ask this question. I would love to find a place within a half-day drive of LA.

Hey Kyle,
I snowkited for a while when I had good winds nearby, but Colorado is not the best place for it. I would recommend hitting up kiteforum.com and seeing if there is anybody around the socal area. Often times you can private message people on there and ask them where they kite. I bet there's something around the Mammoth area. I'll be passing through sometime this winter and won't have any kites, but I'd be psyched to get out with you if you've got an extra. Good luck finding a spot,
Luke

I would email Tyler at Sierra Snowkiting. He is on Donner Summit (Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge) but I bet he'd know.
