Just accepted a job in Pinedale, WY. I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me any more info about the place!

Cheers

Pinedale is great. The Wind River mountain range is so awesome.

If you like to climb rad things close to your home and like small towns, it's pretty much perfect.

Sweet, pretty much what I wanted to hear. How is the heat during the summer? Are Mosquitos a problem?

Also, how is the skiing and mountaineering during the winter?

Cheers

Lucky bastard.

Pinedale is my definition of paradise. Mosquitos can be bad and weather can be a challenge but the wind river mtns are awesome. Tons of other climbing nearby also.

Great fly fishing there, if you are into that.

Grand Teton NP pretty close- awesome place.

World class skiing at Jackson Hole- not far away.

Very lucky :) I had heard about the Mosquitos, but coming from South Georgia I figured I could handle a few bugs!

Jim, I had seen that Jackson Hole was 1.5 hrs and the Tetons was about that as well. I plan on fly fishing as soon as I got out there, and heard that Pinedale was a fly fishing Mecca.

If anyone is interested in getting out, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I should be out there in early May.

Cheers

Mosquitos not that bad there.

I used to live in Florida- mosquitos were horrendous there

Wind River has great climbing, backpacking and mountaineering.

North from Pinedale to Jackson is beautiful. South of Pinedale is a different story...

I go to Jackson every summer and fly fish. I have fished in the Pinedale area as well and it is amazing. Eager cuthrosts taking big dry flies in a beautiful wilderness,

Great alpine climbing in Grand Tetons. The Grand is a classic (although a bit too popular. Lots of lesser known (and less crowded) climbs in the park. Lots of moose, bison and bears. My favorite place (and I live in CO).

Jackson is great skiing but Targhee is just over the pass and has better snow 99% of the time without all of the tourism and crowds.

And Jim is right, going towards the mountains is beautiful and there is plenty to be climbed, skied, or both. Going towards Rock Springs is depressing.

Thanks for the replies. Nice to know about skiing, I saw that there was a small resort outside of Pinedale!
