MP is not the target audience, nor are climbers, nor the "Alex Honnold 60 Minutes watching" crowd and the video clip is not about climbing or even the actress/climber.

It is a demo clip to help advertise Daniel Scherl Productions and show off his capabilities as director/producer/cameraman/production company.

IOW, no need for anyone to get worked up about the "climbing" in the clip.

I guess it does say that in the beginning. So I take it back, it's not a parody of rock climbing, but climbing is merely the "theme" for showcasing the production video skills. I mean, why not, he needs good scenery, moving bodies, moving items (chalk, slings).

As to that, the video WAS beautifully shot, great cinematography, great visuals. Good slow mo. Wish I could produce something half as good.

Well duh, she is not trying to win the next bid to drag some tourists up Denali. She is an actress! Visit Cali more often.

Apparently no one bothered to read and skipped directly to where the action started. I didn't read either.

It says right there:
"This video is a showcase piece for cinematographers intended to explore the slow-motion features of Sony FS-700 and Go-Pro Hero cameras"

It is not a Rock Climbing Video and therefore certain liberties were taken with gear and technique for the sake of visuals"

Visit "cali" more often.

That's, the solution.

While the video has been updated to now note it's purpose and has a disclaimer.

"This video is a showcase piece for cinematographers intended to explore the slow-motion features of Sony FS-700 and Go-Pro Hero cameras"

"It is not a Rock Climbing Video and therefore certain liberties were taken with gear and technique for the sake of visuals"

The problem is that the liberties taken were just plain silly. As I and others have noted the long gear slings were at the top of the list. If the wannabe producer-director wants to show off the abilities of certain cameras when do it with at least half way believable liberties. For instance, instead of tossing slings how about a rope toss? The slow motion of a rope uncoiling in the air would be cool. The wannabe producer-director should be showing their creativity not their lack there of.

Makes sense, why all of us missed it.

Bingo! It seems Mr Jackson graduated from the school of tabloid journalism which may be the reason that his rag sucks so bad these days. I'd love to hear what George Bracksieck has to say.

The guy who made the video explains it all in the comments and Jackson still stands by his waste of a time piece.

Oh for fuck's sake.
It's a piece in R&I's TNB - Tuesday Night Bouldering - section; a section of the magazine devoted to satire and parody.
