Planning on driving in tonight, hoping to climb something sunny tomorrow, probably birdland or solar slab. Am I wrong to assume it will be dry by tomorrow? Did it snow enough that solar slab might be running with water? thanks

i can only speak from my experience with sandstone... but it needs longer in the winter to dry.

Rained yesterday and... It's been sporadic drizzles at the apartment (89108) Torrey Pines and Lake Mead today and I didn't see the La Madre Range all morning because of the cloud cover. Cleared off some starting around noon. Still high humidity and cold but not freezing. Personally, I'm heading for some granite Friday. The limestone at The Gun Club and The Rodeo Wall should be in OK condition. A fiend is climbing at New Jack City and emailed me this morning conditions are perfect. Another friend went to the Gun Club today and found it damp but climbable. My guess is at least one more day for south facing sport areas. Be several sunny warmer days before I'd venture into the canyons or anything facing completely East. If it's wet at the base it's too wet to climb on is a good guideline. Also consider if there are solution pockets on top of the cliff. They percolate water into the sandstone. Without getting righteous, I'd say it's difficult if not impossible, for me at least, to know 100% all the time if a sandstone hold is weak enough it's going to break when loaded under damp conditions. I have unexpectedly broken off some holds I thought were 100% solid. I have been climbing here since 1987. Food for thought is; if climbers break off holds and it gets posted on the internet the BLM may find that sufficient cause to regulate access more than they already have. Don't be a jerk.

How much snow did red rocks receive yesterday? I am guessing it will not be climbable for a few days?

Whats the status after yesterday's (1/11) storm? Planning to get there on Tuesday to wrestle the immaculate pebbles. Should I look for an alternate venue or not that much precip fell? Alternatives? I was thinking of Arrow canyon or Potosi. Thoughts?

There was a lot of rain, all day. I wouldn't climb sandstone on tuesday, the gun club limestone would also be a good alternative

Do you guys think the rocks over at red rock will be dry enough for wednesday sport climbing? specifically the rocks that are in view of the sunset all day.

My side of town got some rain last night, any info on how wet the rock got yesterday? Was hoping to get out tomorrow, but that seems iffy . . . .
