Heck, farm some ice on top of the mountain. Set some quality routes at Rocks and Ropes, change their ropes, get elected as a mayor and clean up some infrastructure, give raises to nurses, then retire. Make the best of it.

Yeah, it ain't typical, but it's possible. Had a climb partner who lived in Tuscon, did not climb for months on end due to weather, drive, <rock, etc. Just saying. And ya, i am a California native, so i am admittedly biased.
Cryptic.

My wife and I have been talking about spending next winter in Tucson. Wanting to climb 3 days a week and escape the cold. We drove through this fall and thought that the Tanque Verde area looked promising as easy approach to the base of Mt Lemmon. Hoping to find a short term, furnished rental (apartment complex?) for approximately November-February. Any input on whether this would be a good area/likelihood of finding a place that could accomodate our interests?

There are lots of options I should think, and an easy approach to Mt Lemmon sounds nice. Until you want to be anywhere else. Not saying that the NE side isn't nice it is. But for anyone who's not on a work schedule there's no place that's that far. From a west side place you can be at Babo, Mendoza, Cochise, or Mt Lemmon equally easily. The Tucson Mountain's have great hiking and mountain biking right out the door practically.

North is typically nicer then South, at least in midtown, nothing wrong with living South of Congress, I do, but some don't like to. I would look North of Speedway near the I 10.

Central Tucson. Just ask folks about the neighborhood you are looking at living in.
