Need a new ski pack

Looking for something small, a summit ski pack. I'll likely be skinning in, setting up a base camp and then doing several day peaks from there. I'll bring a big pack on the way in, but I'd like a 20-30L pack for summiting. Previously I have the BD Revelation, which I was not too fond of. I would like something very lightweight.

Packs I have been looking at Millet Matrix (25 or 30- having a hard time finding in available in the states), Osprey Mutant, Millet Trilogy 30, and the Gregory Targhee 26. Anyone with thoughts about these packs or other similar ones I would LOVE to hear. Thanks!!

If you are looking for light weight workhorse type pack I recommend checking out Cilo Gear packs.

I have an Osprey Kode 42 that is everything I want in a pack. Only had I a little while now but it's comfortable and has a lot of key features I want. It's ski mountaineering specific. They also make a kode 32.

What about a BD Bandit? Avail in Avalung too. If you really want something lightweight that still carries ok, just get an REI flash 18 and add a back panel of corrugated plastic.

I've been doing day tours with the Targhee 32 this year. I typically carry shovel, probe, first aid,and leatherman in the back tool pocket. Good, goggles, headlamp, and a small stuff sack of misc. stuff in the top lid. Back panel has two light layers or big puffy, extra gloves, and 1L thermos. Holds all of that okay but still pretty stuffed.

All in all I'm glad I got the 32. I can't imagine anything much smaller even for normal touring.

Check out Alpine Threadworks packs. I've been using the Selkirk 47L for the last year and love it. Super light weight, no BS high alpine skiing and climbing pack. He has a 37L and a smaller (in your size range) pack called the Purcell. Also custom back length makes for a pack that carries great. He is also willing to do custom add ones or deletions for a small or no charge, depending on the specification. Highly recommended.

Camp X3 600 plus: 30L and super light and minimal.

By far the best pack I've found to use in this application and as my daily fast/light touring pack thus far.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
