Favorite climbing knife?

Right now I'm climbing with a Leatherman Crater 33x, which is nice, but the carabiner loop on the bottom of the handle is just a bit too flimsy for my tastes. I've been looking at the Gerber Remix as a substitute, but was curious if there were other/better options out there.

What do you all like to use?

This is what I keep on hand.

?? 511tactical.com/kold-khukri… makes many good knives. With a name like 5.11, you also know that they are meticulously focused on climbing.

I carry the Remix on every trip, nice to be able to hang it from my harness.

The Trango Piranha weighs 0.9 ounces, is really sharp, can be clipped to a carabiner, and cannot open when clipped to a carabiner. About $20 or so is what I paid about 5 years ago. It also has a beer opener notch.

I like the Leatherman skeletools, which work well for just about everything. I also duct taped a razorblade inside my helmet for emergencies.

I prefer to use my teeth. I've always got them with me. Thankfully I don't play hockey... ;)

Tape razor blade inside helmet. How often do you really need to use it anyway?

The Trango Shark works pretty well for me. Its a nut tool with a built in knife. However, one potential turnoff might be the small size of the blade when compared to other products out there.

I just climb with a knife in my front pocket, but when I canyoneer I wear a dive knife on my leg. I have thought about getting a knife for my harness but I already have enough hanging from it.

I have a small Petzl knife that is light, small, durable and with a serrated edge that has been good to me. Ive only used it to cut away tat and open food containers, but its performed well! I didnt realize there were so many manufacturers that made climbing specific knives, pretty cool!

Old style Petzl Spatha

I like it better than the current model, as it seems a bit more beefy and stout.

I had a Trango Piranha for a while. The rivet on it loosened up enough that it would open while attached to the carabiner on my harness. After the second time this happened, I decided this was not a safe climbing knife, and got the Spatha, which I have been very happy with.

Not a "climbing" knife, but appropriately named, I found the Buck redpoint knife on sale at REI for $20. It is my EDC and I just carry it along on climbs as well. Perhaps a little bulky and heavy for a climbing knife, but it works. I like that it locks closed and has a rubberized handle.

On sale all the time on the interwebs.

That's not a knife. THIS is a knife:

I carry the Trango Piranha but have noticed that it can come open even when clipped properly. It's only happened 2 or 3 times but it got my attention when I nearly cut myself on it once. Light and low-profile for sure though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
